Gen 3:8 Thorns that prick will sprout up around you and they will consume the green plants of the field.
King James, my blood relative, has this verse above translated as “Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field;”
This is a very yeasty translation in comparison to what it REALLY says, and quite a different message too. This verse is talking about how offspring will be born to Adam that will be thorns to his flesh that will prick him from every side, that will overtake the good seed (the green plants) of his field.
The next time we see these words “thorns that prick” H6975 and H1863 are in the Scriptures of the book of the Prophet Hosea, chapter 10 verse 8.
Hos 10:8 The high places of Aven (vanity), IS the sin of Israel, and it must be destroyed: The thorns that prick that ascended upon their alters say “The Mountain, covers us and the hills are cast down”
*Right here, we see the prophet Hosea describing what THORNS that PRICK are: They are people NOT considered the GOOD SEED (green plants) of the field that are born among God’s people that ascend to positions of governance and rule over the people illegitimately and consume and take over the bloodline stations. It’s the seed of Cain making it’s way to the thrones of governance over God’s people by breeding with the seed of Seth. This is what Hosea said GOD had to say about all that.
Hos 10:10 I desire to discipline the people that joined together in order to bind two fountains.
Hos 10:11 Ephraim the heifer has been taught to love to trample down, and I AM carried upon his good back.
Ephraim will ride Judah, to plough Jacob and break apart their combined dirt clods.
Solomon had this to say about the thorns:
Son 2:1-2 I am the rose of Sharon, and the trumpet flower among the valleys. As the trumpet flower among thorns, so is my love among the daughters.
The Prophet Isaiah had this to say concerning thorns:
Isa 10:17 And the LIGHT of Israel shall be a FIRE, and His Holy One the FLAME: and He shall burn and devour the thorns that prick in one day;
Isa 32:13 Upon the land of my people shall come up thorns that prick; yea, upon all the houses of joy in the joyous city:
Looking at thorns in the New Testament, THIS is what Jesus had to say about thorns that prick to Saul soon to be called Paul on the road to Damascus:
Act 9:5 Then the Lord said, “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting. It will be hard for you to kick against Me as a prick.”
Again, King James has this yeasty translation: “I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks.” this is NOT how it reads in the original Greek.
*Jesus spoke this to Saul/Paul when he was on his way to persecute HIS followers and take them captive, back to Jerusalem by orders he had received from the High Priest to go to Damascus and search their synagogues for any men, women or children that he could take prisoner and punish in Jerusalem. Acts 9:1-3
Jesus personally spoke about thorns, 11 times in the Gospel accounts and as a whole the New Testament mentions thorns 14 separate times.
Mat 7:16 You will know them by their fruits, Do you gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from among the thorns?
Mat 7:17 In this manner, each good tree will bring forth good fruit; but a corrupted tree will bring from evil fruit.
Mat 13:7 And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprung up, and choked them:
Mat 13:8 But other fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold.
This is part of Jesus’ parable of the Seed Sower, and seed is the Word of God CARRIED by PEOPLE chosen of God. The WORD/SEED doesn’t just get spoken audibly from the heavens; SOMEONE has to carry and deliver the Message; that is why seed can mean the WORD or a persons offspring.
Mat 13:22 He also that received seed from among the thorns is he that CAN hear the WORD; but the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke out the Word, and they remain unfruitful.
Joh 19:2 And the soldiers wove together a crown of thorns, and put it on his head, and they put on Him a purple robe,
Joh 19:3 And said, Hail, King of the Jews! and they struck Him with their hands.
2Co 12:7 And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a prick in my flesh, as a messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure.
Heb 6:7 For the earth drinks in the rain that comes often upon it, and it brings forth green plants useful to them that dressed it, and receive blessings from God:
Heb 6:8 But those that that bring forth thorns that prick are rejected, and are near to their cursing and their end is to be burned.
Throughout the New Testament we see the word used for PRICK as kentron G2759 and it means: to prick, poke, sting or gore the flesh of any kind; like in the Old Testament it was the word used for an iron goad, for urging on oxen, horses and other beasts of burden.
Rev 9:10 And they had tails like unto scorpions, and there PRICKS were in their tails: and they are given the power was to act wickedly towards men for five months.
*This is talking about symbolic locusts that will be sent out to TEST men with the torment of the PRICKS of scorpions for 5 months, by acting wickedly and unjustly towards them. Let’s look at the characteristics of these symbolic locusts shall we? Rev 9:7-111
- The formation of the locusts are like horses made ready for battle.
- On their heads are CROWNS that have the appearance of gold.
- Their faces are the faces of men.
- They have hair, like the hair of women.
- Their teeth are like lions.
- They have breastplates like breastplates of iron.
- The sound of their wings is like the sound of chariots pulled by many horses running into battle.
- They possessed tails that are like scorpions, and their PRICK is within their tails.
- They are given the liberty by God to act unjustly and wicked to men for 5 months.
- They have a KING that reins over them, the angel that is over the Deep, whose name in Hebrew is Abaddon and in Greek is Apollyon.
At this point, I feel it’s important to mention; whenever the Scriptures speak of the TAIL of something; it’s talking about the lesser, the younger, someone that comes after, like following after a predecessor, a child or younger relative following after an older relative. It appears that it’s saying that these locusts will use their children/tails to torment mankind and rule wickedly for 5 months. That is the first Woe in the book of Revelation.
The Thorns that are created, serve only one purpose; that is to be the thorns that prick, that God allows to execute His will and judgments among His chosen people. It’s GOD that releases these locusts and established their king that gives them their orders. GOD is in control of EVERYTHING He has created. *Remember the Angel of the Abyss or the Deep was there from the beginning and ruled over the presence of the darkness upon the face of the earth, BUT was still created by GOD and is subject to HIS rule.
Notice, the words thorns and thrones are very similar? That’s not by accident.
