Let us investigate these words Called and Chosen and their application in scripture.

Called: G2822 κλητός klētos called, invited (to a banquet) invited (by God in the proclamation of the Gospel) to obtain eternal salvation in the kingdom through Christ

Chosen: G1588 ἐκλεκτός eklektos picked out, chosen, chosen by God

Mat 20:16 So the last shall be first, and the first last: for MANY be called (G2822), but FEW chosen (G1588).

Mat 22:14 For MANY are called (G2822), but FEW are chosen (G1588).

Mat 24:22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s (G1588) sake those days shall be shortened.

Mat 24:24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect (G1588).

Mat 24:31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect (G1588) from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

Mar 13:20 And except that the Lord had shortened those days, no flesh should be saved: but for the elect’s (G1588) sake, whom he hath chosen, he hath shortened the days.

Mar 13:22 For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall shew signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect (G1588).

Mar 13:27 And then shall He send his angels, and shall gather together his elect (G1588) from the four winds, from the uttermost part of the earth to the uttermost part of heaven.

Luk 18:7 And shall not God avenge his own elect (G1588), which cry day and night unto Him, though He bear long with them?

9 Times Jesus mentions the eklektos (G1588); the chosen of God in the NT.

These are Chosen to SERVE the Called, and to Call the Invited. As Jesus asked His disciples “Who is greater, the ones sitting at the table or the ones serving?” and they replied “The ones serving” and He said “No, the ones sitting at the table, for I AM speaking as One Who serves.” We MUST go and do the same!

There are many parables where Jesus uses the term “servant” to represent His chosen servants, sent to call those He has invited.

Mat 22:3 And sent forth His SERVANTS to CALL them that were invited to the wedding: and they would not come.

Mat 22:10 So those SERVANTS went out into the highways, and gathered together all as many as they found, both bad and good: and the wedding was furnished with guests.

Mat 22:13 Then said the king to the SERVANTS, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Those that are Called (G2822) can fall away, but those that are Chosen (G1588) cannot.

The Called~

Luke 8:13 They on the rock are THEY, which, when they hear, receive the WORD with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation FALL AWAY.

2Pe 3:17 Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, BEWARE lest ye also, being LED AWAY with the ERROR of the wicked, FALL from your OWN stedfastness.

Heb 6:6 If they shall FALL AWAY to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put Him to an open shame.

The Chosen~

Mat 24:24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, IF it were POSSIBLE, they shall deceive the very ELECT (G1588)

Mar 13:22 For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall shew signs and wonders, to seduce, IF it were POSSIBLE, even the ELECT (G1588)

Rev 17:14 These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for He is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and THEY that are with Him are CALLED (G2822) and CHOSEN (G1588), and faithful.

Pray about what these words Called and Chosen mean, and reconcile them with the above scriptures mentioned.
